There is a Table Rock State Park in Missouri, so every time I see this name, I am taken aback. I wonder how many states have a park with the name. Table Rock State Park in South Carolina has a good reason to use the name as this fabulous rock top on top of a mountain overlooks the park.
We first visited the visitor's center. We could not decide if we wanted to camp here or not. We did decide that a hike up the mountain was too much for us.
This is a view of the mountains from the Visitor's Center which is across the road from the campgrounds.
This is the lake at the Visitor's Center.
There is a nice pier on the lake.
We were driving around and decided to go ahead and camp for the night here. We booked our campground at the campground entrance in the store rather than at the Visitor's Center. The campground was nice and we felt safe. There was no fabulous view from my tent. The lady at the store did give me some brochures finally that she had tucked in a box under the counter, and I spent time scoping out places to visit in South Carolina. We were not seeing brochures anywhere like we do in other states.
Since there was no amazing view at the campground, we decided to go over to the lake and make our coffee and tea out of the back of our truck. There is a walking trail around this lake from here, but in the end we decided not to take a morning hike.
At this parking area is also a swimming beach. The bathrooms and changing house for the beach are way up on a hill and up many steps, far away from the beach. I almost did not go up there, but decided I had to go enough.
This is the view from the bathhouse.
As we were driving out of the park, we saw some views, and then after we were out of the park we passed this pull-off on the side of the road called Grant Meadow Overlook with a view of the rock on top of the mountain.
It was a sweet spot! Here's a sign with details.
My camera was not wide enough to capture the photo, so be sure to watch the video.
